This unique dry white wine, is produced in the Single Vineyard Mega Spileo Estate, and it is a blend the popular Assyrtiko variety 75% which comes together with the local Lagorthi variety 25%. The is an organic mountainous vineyard at 850m altitude in Kalavryta overlooking the Vouraikos Gorge, marking the wine as PGI Achaia.The grapes are harvested late in September, and the must is fermented and matured with its wine lees for 6-7 months in new oak barrels of varying sizes. After bottling, the wine must remain in the bottle for at least 2 years to develop character.
Assyrtiko & Lagorthi PGI by Mega Spileo has mild golden – yellow colour with greenish hue. On the nose is discreet and delicate,with aromas of roasted nuts, stone fruit marmalades, herbs and hints of minerality. On the palate is well-structured, with refreshing acidity and long after-taste of roasted fruit.
Ideally served with fish, seafood, meats with white sauces.

Mega Spileo means Large Cave, and it took its name from its location near Kalavryta in Peloponnese, where there is a large cave and a Monastery, the second oldest continuously occupied religious place in the world. The vineyard belonged to the Monastery, where the monks making wine since the 15th century until it was completely abandoned in the beginning of the 20th century when the current owners took over and revitalised this historic vineyard.
