NICO LAZARIDI has gained broad acclaim as one of the pioneering firms that, throughout the course of its 35-year history, has played a vital role in the rebirth of Greek wine and the reestablishment of the Drama region as a major wine-producing region.
Nicos Lazaridis decided to turn his lifelong interest in wine into a company in the late 1970s. He drew on his experiences in Tuscany, where he had lived for a time, while focusing on his home region of Drama. He started vines in several locations and, in a bold move, founded the first viticultural and winemaking firm in Drama prefecture in 1987. The Nico Lazaridis family continues to control the founding winery, which was founded in Drama.
